Lombok is the large island east of Bali. Gili Trawangan is a small island just off the NW coast of Lombok. To get to Gili Trawangan, you can either fly into Bali or Lombok. If you fly into Bali you take a fast boat over to Gili Trawangan. If you fly into Lombok, you drive up the coast a few hours and then take a shorter boat trip to the resort. We went the Lombok route this time.
